APRIL 19, 2012 – Eric Walters, an attorney with extensive experience representing companies in high-stakes litigation over intellectual property, has joined the San Francisco office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP.
Walters comes to DWT following 13 years as a partner at Morrison & Foerster, where he successfully represented clients in patent, trade secret, copyright, trademark, and licensing disputes in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, software, semiconductor, medical device, and cleantech industries.

Just last week, Walters won dismissal of a patent infringement claim at summary judgment, as well as a rare Rule 11 sanction against the plaintiff.

In addition to handling litigation, Walters counsels clients on IP portfolio management and strategy. He has significant experience in proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and advises clients on the use of the new PTO procedures created by last year’s patent reform legislation.

Walters received his J.D., as well as his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Michigan.
