Transactions
- Energy project development and finance: We represent independent power producers, investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities and electric cooperatives in the acquisition, development, financing, construction and operation of electric generation and transmission facilities. Our experience includes wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and hydro facilities, as well as natural gas, LNG, oil and coal-fired plants.
- Energy trading and other transactions: Our lawyers represent power marketers, municipal utilities, electric cooperatives and end users in connection with wholesale and retail sales of electric power. We also represent power purchasers and sellers in connection with electric interconnection and transmission agreements.
- Mergers and acquisitions: We represent project developers in connection with the acquisition and divestiture of generation assets. We have also represented industrial customers in the sale or redevelopment of captive energy assets integrated into industrial complexes.
Regulation
- Federal and state regulatory matters: Our energy regulatory lawyers represent electric generators and power marketers before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission and other state public utility commissions, the Bonneville Power Administration and other federal power marketing agencies and state energy facility siting authorities.
- Hydroelectric licensing and compliance matters: Our energy lawyers have the breadth and depth of experience to provide top-quality legal advice regarding virtually any hydroelectric licensing or compliance matter. They are very familiar with all three of FERC’s relicensing processes (traditional, alternative, and integrated), as well as the wide variety of substantive licensing and compliance matters that are administered by FERC under the Federal Power Act.
