JULY 15, 2015 – Michael J. Killeen and John P. LeCrone have been elected by the national College of Labor and Employment Lawyers as Fellows, the highest peer recognition that exists in the field of labor and employment law.

Killeen is an employment law litigator and counselor in Davis Wright Tremaine LLP’s Seattle office. LeCrone is vice chair of the firm’s employment law practice and practices from our Los Angeles office. They will be formally installed as Fellows later this year in Philadelphia, in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section.

According to the College, whose members are prominent professionals representing employers, labor unions, individuals, government, and academia, election as a Fellow recognizes “those who, by long and outstanding service, have distinguished themselves as leaders in the field.”

Over the course of his 35-year career in employment law at Davis Wright Tremaine, Killeen has counseled and defended employers on a wide range of issues and litigation, including class actions, with particular emphasis on wage/hour and OSHA/WISHA compliance. He is the author of several key reference books on employment law, has written and edited hundreds of advisories, and regularly makes educational presentations to industry groups, HR professionals, in-house counsel, and other employment law practitioners. He regularly advises employers on preventive best practices, HR policy reviews, and collective bargaining issues.

Killeen’s many other professional honors include ongoing peer recognition by Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers. He was named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America in 2009, an invitation-only society that consists of less one-half of one percent of U.S. attorneys based on accomplishments in litigation, excellence in the art of advocacy, and the highest ethical standards and integrity.

In 2009, Killeen was the recipient of Davis Wright Tremaine’s Willard J. Wright Award, which recognizes a partner who has shown outstanding commitment to community and civic activity. He has served for many years on the Board of Advisors of Gonzaga Law School, his alma mater, including as president, and has served on Gonzaga University’s Board of Regents as well. He received a Distinguished Alumni Merit Award from the university in 2002. He has also served for almost three decades on the Board of Trustees of Seattle Goodwill, including as chair and vice-chair.

LeCrone represents employers and management in litigation involving a wide range of issues, including wrongful discharge, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour, trade secrets/unfair competition, and ERISA. He trains supervisors and employees in best practices, and counsels clients in investigations of employment-related complaints and corporate malfeasance, as well as in due diligence matters related to mergers and acquisitions.

LeCrone, who is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, has been listed with Southern California “Super Lawyers” every year since 2007. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the USC Institute for Corporate Counsel. In 2013, he was the recipient of the Stewart Tremaine Award, which recognizes a partner who exemplifies the role of a team player within the firm.

Killeen and LeCrone join other Fellows at Davis Wright Tremaine, including practice chair Henry Farber in our Bellevue office; Seattle partners Bob Blackstone, Mark Hutcheson, Tom Lemly, and Mike Reiss; and San Francisco partner Judy Keyes.
