| Emilio Gonzalez focuses his practice on employment litigation, counseling and protecting his clients' trade secrets. He has defended employers against claims of wage and hour violations, wrongful discharge, harassment and discrimination, and has prosecuted and defended trade secrets/unfair competition actions. He has won jury verdicts in state and federal courts, and has represented employers before the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Emilio's clients include banks, investment firms, hospitals and medical groups, television and film production companies, manufacturing companies, telecommunication companies and restaurants. Selected Experience Defense counsel in a single-plaintiff case where plaintiff asserts harassment, discrimination, and retaliatory discharge. (Ongoing) Represented defendants through trial in this single-plaintiff case initially asserting 10 causes of action related to alleged discrimination and retaliation on account of her sexual orientation, disability, gender, and having filed a workers' compensation claim. Prior to trial, the Davis Wright Tremaine team secured summary judgment on behalf of one of two defendants and summary adjudication on 5 of the 10 causes of action. After a 10-day trial, secured a complete defense verdict on all remaining causes of action. (2011) Defense counsel in action alleging disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, and interference with alleged union-organizing. Obtained summary judgment. (2011) Obtained summary judgment on behalf of various Kaiser entities and an individual defendant in a wrongful termination case alleging claims for age discrimination, retaliation, defamation, violation of Business and Professions Code ยง 17200, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. (2011) Lead defense counsel in action alleging misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, and breach of contract. (2011) Defended and prosecuted related actions in state court and in FINRA involving claims for breach of contract and defamation. (2010) Represented a detainee who was beaten by deputies in the Los Angeles County Jail. Represented client during an 11-day jury trial, after which Mr. Jimenez was awarded compensatory and punitive damages and Davis Wright Tremaine was awarded attorney fees. (9th Cir. 2007) Lead defense counsel in action alleging misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition and breach of contract. Obtained dismissal with prejudice on behalf of client.
