| Bill Birdwell focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and dispute resolution, including patent and trade secret litigation, and interference proceedings in the United States patent office. His patent litigation and interference experience includes such diverse technologies as optical scanning, forest products machinery, medical devices, Internet systems, computer memories, and nutraceuticals. Bill also negotiates and prepares technology licensing agreements. Selected Experience Net MoneyIN, Inc. Ongoing Successfully represented plaintiff in case for infringement of a patent generally directed to systems for processing credit card transactions over a distributed computer system, particularly the Internet, achieving numerous settlements and an appeal to the Federal Circuit. 2010 Successfully represented appellant in patent interference matter before Federal Circuit. Royal Ridge Fruit and Cold Storage LLC 2008 Represented client in theft of trade secrets matter. Case settled favorably. Extreme Technologies, Inc. 2007 Represented plaintiff who sought declaratory judgment on non-infringement and invalidity of two patents relating to compound archery bows. Case settled and the claims dismissed with prejudice without any acknowledgement of wrongdoing by any party. JoeScan, Inc. 2007 Represented plaintiff who sought a declaratory judgment of non-infringement and invalidity of three patents relating to optical scanners employed in sawmills. Case settled with plaintiff receiving a license. United Machine Industries, Inc. et al. 2001 Represented defendants in action for infringement of patents on saw apparatus, misappropriation of trade secrets and other claims. The case was settled and the claims dismissed with prejudice and without any acknowledgement of wrongdoing by any party. B-J Enterprises, Inc. 1990 Obtained jury verdict and injunction for plaintiff on claims for misappropriation of confidential information and trade secrets relating to metalworking technology, breach of contract and various business torts. Salem Equipment, Inc. 1981 Represented defendant in claim for infringement of patents on bandmills where plaintiff sought an injunction. Case settled after opening statements with defendant receiving a license. Sun Studs, Inc. Represented plaintiff in claims for infringement of three patents on computerized sawmills and veneer lathes, copyright infringement in a computer program, and breach of contract.
