| Real estate clients, facing diverse circumstances and with a variety of needs, have one common goal: to get their deals done. They need a law firm with sufficient depth and scope so that, whatever their situation, they will have lawyers with directly relevant experience who are well-equipped to help them succeed.
We have strong relationships and a deep understanding of the policy and procedural environments for real estate development and transactions. We handle financings, acquisitions, dispositions and leasing for clients on a national basis. And our team is backed by strong construction, land use, secured finance, tax, environment and litigation attorneys, so we can offer clients a complete solution to their real estate legal challenges.
We see real estate projects from a broad perspective, having worked on:
- Residential, commercial, institutional, industrial and agricultural development projects
- Sophisticated financings and complex acquisitions and dispositions involving large or large numbers of buildings
- Master planned developments, condominium projects and multifamily dwelling acquisitions
- Transactions with the government, including public/private partnerships, conservation easements and large infrastructure projects
Our areas of greatest strength are large, sophisticated transactions and big development projects that combine real estate, land use and political issues, as well as complex leasing projects.
Our clients have varied needs for counsel, and we customize our service model, depending on whether they have in-house counsel or not, conduct transactions regularly or only rarely, and have strong local knowledge and relationships or are based outside the region.
Davis Wright Tremaine has two attorneys designated as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professionals by the U.S. Green Building Council. Our knowledge of the LEED certification program, as well as other green building rating systems, enables us to effectively advise clients on all aspects of sustainable real estate practices, including LEED certification of new and existing commercial real estate projects, green leasing and sustainable maintenance and operation of commercial properties.
Whatever our clients’ situation and needs, they can count on the following:
- At the start of every engagement, we will talk with them, at our expense, to ensure we understand how they will define success for that project so we can be sure our service is informed by their priorities and preferences.
- Our team will be committed to making the deal happen and will match their standards for speed and intensity.
- We will be user-friendly (timely, responsive, organized, accessible and civil) both for our client and the other parties in the transaction so our clients can be confident that their business relationships will be preserved and enhanced.
- We will stand behind our work and be accountable to our clients’ judgment of both the value and the client experience we provide. Our measure of success is strength of the bond we form with our clients. We are very proud of the large number of long-term relationships we have earned over the years.
