Jennifer practices in business torts and intellectual property litigation.
She has a depth of experience in trade secret litigation and counseling, and is one of the primary drafters of the CACI Model Jury Instructions regarding trade secrets, required for use in all trade secret matters tried in California.
Representative Experience
Defending and pursuing claims of trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, employee raiding, breach of fiduciary duty and related claims in Federal and Superior court. Recent cases have included allegations of employee thefts of customized software, customer and vender databases, and proprietary business processes.
Defending studios and publishers in copyright infringement and right of publicity actions. Recent cases include defending the publisher of a biography of Marilyn Monroe (Milton H. Greene Archives, Inc. v. BPI Communications, Inc., 378 F. Supp.2d 1189, C.D.Cal. 2005) and intervening on behalf of Showtime to set aside a TRO against the network’s broadcast of a mixed martial arts bout.
Defending Columbia Pictures in a six-party dispute regarding a multi-million dollar accounting for participations. Ivanova v. Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc., 217 F.R.D. 501 (C.D.CA. 2003); Laparade v. Ivanova, 387 F.3rd 1099 (9th Cir. 2004); and Laparade v. Ivanova, 2004 WL 2487633 (9th Cir. Nov. 5, 2004).
Pursuing employers’ claims of embezzlement, kickbacks and related misconduct against former employees.
