NOVEMBER 1, 2011 – Davis Wright Tremaine LLP has been ranked in the top tier of law firms in the United States in six practice areas by the magazine U.S. News and the respected survey organization Best Lawyers.
In listings posted today, U.S. News and Best Lawyers gave DWT a national first-tier ranking in the following areas of the law:
- Communications
- Copyright
- Employment (Representing Management)
- Entertainment – Motion Pictures & Television
- Franchise
- Litigation – Labor & Employment

The rankings were determined using an elaborate methodology that began with surveys of thousands of clients and attorneys to collect reputational data on individual lawyers and law firms. Information is also gathered about the number of transactions and/or litigation matters at different dollar levels in the different practice areas and the significance of legal matters undertaken. All of the data are combined to give an overall score for each firm, and to rank the firms in specific practice areas, both locally and nationally.
In local rankings, Davis Wright was placed in the first tier in over 50 practice areas across seven different offices.
