Our Portland office, which traces its history back to 1911, was named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work for in Oregon” by Oregon Business magazine, which gave us high marks for work environment, decision making and trust, and our benefits package. For the past several years the office has also been named by Portland Business Journal as one of Oregon's “Most Admired Companies,” in the professional services category, and one of the “Healthiest Employers of Oregon” in the 500-1,499 employee category. In 2008, the firm's managing partner, Dave Baca, who works primarily from the Portland office, was also named “CEO of the Year” by the Journal.

Portland is frequently named among the nation’s cleanest and most livable cities. In addition to being recognized for its sustainability practices, and being one of the best bike-friendly cities in the nation, it has a celebrated restaurant scene that benefits from the city’s proximity to the wineries of the Willamette and Columbia River Valleys. Since the New York Times spotlighted Portland’s "Golden Age of Dining & Drinking” in 2007, Travel & Leisure Magazine ranked Portland as one of America’s Favorite Cities 2013, and Portland Monthly has detailed the city’s "10 Best Restaurants of 2013."

Of course, Portland offers much more than great food and drink. Its well-connected community makes it a fantastic city for networking and for starting or advancing your legal career. At Davis Wright Tremaine, our attorneys are well-known for their opportunity for interesting legal work, outstanding pro bono work, and participation in community organizations. Both our attorneys and practice groups consistently receive high marks from the American College of Trial Lawyers, Chambers USA, "The Best Lawyers in America," and The National Law Journal. We pride ourselves on being a full-service law firm with the best quality in litigation and transactional matters. We believe that a diverse workforce provides better service to our clients and a better work environment for our attorneys and staff. We have thus made recruitment, retention, and promotion of attorneys who add to our overall diversity, including attorneys of color and underrepresented groups, a priority for our firm. We participate in a number of programs and initiatives to increase diversity within the legal community as well as the profession generally, including: accommodating employees with disabilities, diversity training, diverse attorney retention, diverse attorney professional development, providing student scholarships, participating in minority and women bar associations, and including diversity as a firm core competency.
