Clifford A. DeGroot

Cliff DeGroot focuses his practice on business transactions and corporate governance. He has extensive experience representing clients in mergers and acquisitions and private placements of debt and equity. Cliff also counsels startups and emerging companies on corporate governance matters, securities issuances, and equity incentive plans. In addition, he is a certified public accountant with a solid background in finance, having served as the senior financial officer for multiple companies and as an auditor for an international accounting firm.

Prior to joining Davis Wright Tremaine, Cliff practiced law at another international law firm where he focused on corporate transactions and governance as well as a local Portland law firm where he maintained a broad practice involving financial institution regulatory compliance, taxation, corporate transactions, litigation, and forensic accounting. He was also formerly the CFO of a NASDAQ-listed technology company based in Petah Tikva, Israel, the commercial manager of a joint venture with one of the global leaders in the flavor industry, and an assurance supervisor for Grant Thornton in Portland, Ore.
