Elizabeth (Liz) Hodes is an experienced litigator whose practice is largely focused on labor and employment counseling and litigation. She counsels employers on prevention of disputes with employees and compliance with laws governing all aspects of the employment relationship, including hiring and terminations, leaves of absence, payment of wages and overtime, personnel policies, and a wide array of other employment issues. She also helps employers protect their business and goodwill through enforcement of non-compete agreements and defense of breach of contract, harassment, discrimination, wrongful discharge and other employment-related claims. Liz’s experience also includes representing companies and their directors and managers in litigating corporate governance, contracts and other disputes, always remaining focused on developing cost-effective and efficient strategies for resolving those disputes.
Liz’s clients include hospitals and health care providers, hotels, utilities providers, seafood processors, financial services, other service industry companies, and a variety of small businesses. Liz enjoys educating clients and fellow attorneys on employment-related matters and frequently publishes articles and presents at conferences and continuing education seminars on recent decisions from the Alaska and United States Supreme Courts and a variety of labor and employment law topics, such as workplace investigations, substance abuse and leaves of absence, and the major changes required to employee handbooks as a result of guidance and decisions from the National Labor Relations Board.
