Jacob Daniels focuses his practice on employment law, including employment litigation and employment counsel.  In his litigation practice, he defends clients in both state and federal courts in disputes involving claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, retaliation, and in administrative proceedings before government agencies such as the California Department of Fair Employment & Housing.

Jacob also represents employers faced with allegations of failing to make public accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.  He has experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration, and has successfully settled single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action claims.

In his counseling practice, Jacob advises employers on a variety of matters, including employee discipline, terminations of employment, creating and revising personnel policies, wage and hour compliance, and ADA access.

Harris v. Bank of America, et al.

Obtained favorable early resolution in single-plaintiff case alleging claims of disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, failure to engage in the interactive process, and wrongful termination. (2016)

Arave v. Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc., et al.

Part of trial team representing employer against a former high-level executive claiming harassment, discrimination, and constructive discharge based on religion. Obtained a unanimous defense verdict after six-week jury trial. (2013)

Chullino v. Prospect Mortgage LLC

Won early settlement of class action alleging unpaid overtime and other wage and hour claims for mortgage services company (2012)

ADA Disputes

Crosby v. Pacific Theatres Exhibition Corp.

Representing theatre company in putative California class action alleging claims under the ADA and Unruh Civil Rights Act related to provision of assistive listening devices in theatres. Resolved favorably. (C.D. Cal. 2015)

Crosby v. Laemmle Theatres LLC

Obtained favorable individual settlement in in class action matter involving allegations of violations of the Unruh Civil Rights Act and the California Disabled Persons Act relating to assistive listening devices and closed captioning in movie theatres. (2014)

Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness v. CNN

Represented CNN against class action claims brought under the California Disabled Persons Act related to captioning of online video content. Plaintiffs withdrew claims following filing of brief on behalf of CNN with the California Supreme Court. (2014)

Ramirez v. Warner Bros.

Resolved single-plaintiff action brought by disabled individual against entertainment company alleging violations under the California Unruh Act and federal Americans with Disabilities Act. (2013)

Johnson v. Turner Broadcasting
