| Becky Williams, a registered nurse with hands-on health care experience, focuses on privacy, security and regulatory issues. She advises health care clients on anti-kickback, self referral, tax exemption, patient care, health care quality, governance and other health law issues. Becky counsels clients on HIPAA privacy and security compliance, particularly with respect to electronic sharing of health information and health information exchange. She also serves as counsel on a variety of other health law issues.

- Structured arrangements—and developed implementing documents such as contracts, terms and conditions of use, bylaws, policies and procedures—for electronically sharing health information
- Devised effective HIPAA compliance strategies and counseled provider and health plan clients, as well as health care vendors and TPAs, on addressing ongoing HIPAA issues
- Represented hospitals and health systems in providing physicians with subsidized technology to promote electronic data sharing in compliance with anti-kickback statute, Stark Law and tax-exemption requirements
- Created innovative methods for alternative uses of health information, including quality reporting and promotion of research and public health
- Assisted clients in responding to data breaches, including providing notification of such breaches
- Developed effective approaches in establishing and sharing information through personal health records and shared care plans
- Advised hospitals, health systems and others in the health care industry in resolving Stark Law and anti-kickback issues arising out of organizational structures, physician relationships and vendor agreements
- Counseled and supported a variety of clients in addressing compliance issues, conducting internal investigations of those issues, and developing corrective action plans
- Represented hospitals, health systems and other health care providers in procuring software and technology to support their electronic health records
- Counseled numerous health care clients in general regulatory and contract matters
