Bob Stewart represents clients in the areas of employment and labor, public procurement, construction, and general litigation. He provides clients with experienced counsel and defense in a variety of matters, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, OSHA, wrongful termination, defamation and other employment and construction laws. He is a frequent speaker on labor, employment, OSHA and construction topics.

Bob's clients include: Chugach Electric, Doyon, Evergreen Helicopters of Alaska, Iditarod Trail Committee and Providence Health Services.

Assisted construction contractor in a matter regarding alleged asbestos exposure. (2010)

Represented large retailer

Represented large retailer in a foot protection citation and reached an agreement to provide a training program instead of PPE. (2009)

Government contracts for Qualis Health

Represented incumbent contractor in protest of award of contract for Medicaid utilization review and case management services. Obtained cancellation of award to competitor and multi-year extension of existing contract. (2008)

Geo-Seis Helicopters, Inc

Represented protestor before the General Accounting Office and Court of Federal Claims relating to procurement of $100 million helicopter services contract in the Pacific for vertical replenishment services for the Military Sealift Command. Obtained positive merits decision before Court of Federal Claims, Geo-Seis Helicopters, Inc. v. United States, 77 Fed. Cl. 633 (2007), and award of EAJA attorneys’ fees, Geo-Seis Helicopters, Inc. v. United States, 2007 WL 3299024 (Fed. Cl. Oct. 31, 2007)

Government contracts for Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska

Representation of successful bidder for $30 million claims management contract in State of Alaska, Office of Administrative Hearings appeal proceeding which resulted in affirmation of contract award, which resulted in affirmance of contract award. (2007)

Government contracts for Qualis Health

Representation of successful bidder for MMIS technical assistance contract in State of Alaska, Office of Administrative Hearings appeal proceeding. Protest withdrawn when stay request denied. (2007)

Government contracts for Conair Group, Inc.

Successful representation of awardee in agency, Department of Administration and Superior Court protest challenges involving contract for fixed wing firefighting services. Engagement also involved contract negotiation and ancillary civil litigation issue. (2003)

Braun v. Alaska Commercial Fishing & Agriculture Bank

Obtained summary judgment in complex wrongful discharge case on grounds that termination of employment was justified as part of a legitimate economically motivated reduction in force. Trial court judgment affirmed on appeal by Alaska Supreme Court. 816 P.2d 140 (Alaska 1996)

Inn-Vestment Associates of Alaska, Inc. v. State of Alaska, DOL

Represented employer in Little-Davis-Bacon declaratory judgment case. Summary judgment granted for employer; case reversed on appeal. 909 P.2d 330 (Alaska 1996)

Represented electric power generation and transmission company

Helped electric power generation and transmission company in an employee death case and obtained a significant penalty reduction.
