Ted Wellman has a diverse practice including utility regulatory law, employment law, and health care law. His clients include Alaska Native health care organizations, ANCSA village corporations, Alaska Native tribal organizations, utilities, municipalities, and private businesses.
In the utility regulatory area, Ted handles rate cases, power sales agreements, development of small hydroelectric projects, small wind generation, small co-generation projects, and tariff filings. Ted has handled cases before the Regulatory Commission of Alaska involving changes in controlling interest and disputes over certificates of public convenience and necessity.
Ted provides advice on a broad range of employment issues, including discrimination, wage and hour disputes, wrongful discharge, and policy development. His employment practice also includes litigation involving employment law claims in state and federal courts.
In the health care area, Ted serves as general counsel for a major Alaska Native health care organization where he provides advice on compliance, employment, construction, procurement, and other issues. In addition, he also provides compliance and employment advice to another Alaska Native healthcare organization. Ted is developing a practice involving HIPAA for Alaska-based clients with help from the Healthcare Group. Ted actively involves and solicits advice of other DWT attorneys when appropriate.
