Bill Rasmussen brings more than 22 years of commercial and appellate litigation experience to his practice, representing a wide range of clients in state and federal courts, arbitrations and mediations. He has extensive litigation experience involving banking and financial institutions, real estate and land use, and estate and trust matters. Bill's background includes work as a staff economist with the U.S. House of Representatives.

Boitano v. Bank of Washington

Defended Bank of Washington against lender liability claims brought by real estate developer. Obtained dismissal of claims on summary judgment. (King Cnty. (Wash.) Super. Ct. 2011)

Concept Dorssers v. First American Title

Defended breach of contract and bad faith claims asserted against First American Title under title insurance policy. Obtained dismissal of claims on motion to dismiss. (2010)

Nelson v. Bank of Washington

Defended Bank of Washington against lender liability claims brought by real estate developer. Obtained dismissal of claims on summary judgment. (2010)

Smith v. Bank of America, NA

Represented Bank of America in putative Washington-only class action alleging that Bank of America's practice of charging a $100 garnishment fee violated state law. Motion to dismiss was granted with prejudice based on National Bank Act preemption argument. (E.D. Wash. 2010)

Domestic Construction v. Bank of America

Defended Bank of America in action involving over $1 million in checks bearing alleged forged endorsements. Obtained dismissal of claims on summary judgment. (2009)

Vision Service Plan v. United States

Represented nonprofit vision care organization and its affiliates in federal court actions in California and Ohio seeking to restore exempt status under Section 501(c)(4) of Internal Revenue Code and obtain refund of over $50 million in federal taxes paid. (S.D. Ohio 2009)

In re Estate of Guy Di Stefano

Represented Salvation Army in multi-party litigation involving validity of $30 million testamentary bequest to another beneficiary. 06-4-05404-8 (King Cnty. (Wash.) Super. Ct. 2007)

Jordshaugen v. Port Ludlow Associates et al.

Represented real estate developer in action involving claims for quiet title, breach of contract, and alleged Consumer Protection Act violations. Resulted in six-day non-jury trial culminating in complete victory for client and substantial award of attorney fees against opposing party. (Kitsap Cnty. (Wash.) Super. Ct. 2007)
