Elizabeth Deckman has extensive business law experience, with a focus in advising companies regarding employee benefits and ERISA. She has designed and implemented all types of tax-qualified retirement plans and trusts, including Section 401(k), profit sharing, money purchase, employee stock ownership (ESOP), cash balance, and defined benefit plans. Liz designs, drafts and implements retirement plans and trusts, employee communications materials and administration forms.

Liz's work covers issues such as: the effect of new laws on plans, nondiscriminatory coverage and contribution requirements, limitations on benefits, IRS determination-letter applications and plan defect-correction programs, plan terminations, and early-retirement window benefits. She also assists clients in the employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Liz also has advised clients on the impact of IRC Section 409A on deferred compensation arrangements.

Liz also works with health and welfare plans and has advised clients on laws impacting their plans, such as health care reform, cafeteria plan rules, COBRA, and HIPAA.
