Gillian Murphy

Jillian Jillian MurphyGillian
Gillian Murphy centers her practice on employment advice and counsel. She helps employers of all sizes successfully navigate every aspect of the employment relationship, including compliance with leave and disability law, discrimination investigations, updating personnel policies, and drafting executive compensation agreements. As a member of DWT’s Pay Equity Task Force, Gillian guides employers through compensation analyses and performs job classification audits to ensure compliance with state and federal law. She regularly conducts management training programs on a range of employment topics and is known for her energetic presentation style.

While Gillian serves employers across all industries, she has particular expertise in the restaurant and hotel space.

Leave law and gender discrimination dispute for local restaurant franchisee

Successfully moved the court to uphold a disputed arbitration agreement in a leave law and gender discrimination dispute. (Ongoing)

Beem v. Providence Health & Services, Inc.

Obtained jury verdict for Providence Health & Services, Inc., in wrongful termination case involving allegations of failure to accommodate under the ADA and WLAD. (E.D. Wash. 2012)

Arbitration for national restaurant chain

Successfully obtained full judgment for employer at arbitration against employee's extensive sexual harassment and retaliation claims. (2010)

Munday v. Western Peterbilt, Inc.

Summary judgment granted to our client on all claims in a sexual harassment and retaliation case. (2009)

Race and national origin discrimination case for local luxury hotel

Successfully defeated six related EEOC charges alleging race and national origin discrimination. (2007)

Washington's Court Appointed Special Advocate Program

Represented volunteer foster child advocate during a two-week bench trial that included multiple witnesses and difficult evidentiary issues. Obtained desired verdict. (2006)
