Janet represents employers in a wide range of disputes before state and federal courts and agencies, including disputes involving claims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, wage and hour class actions, and administrative proceedings before the Employment Development Department, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

She also provides advice and counsel aimed at preventing litigation, including advice on sexual harassment prevention, investigations, terminations of employment, reductions in force, employee disciplinary actions, creating personnel policies, and drafting employee handbooks.

ADA Disputes
Janet represents businesses in Americans with Disabilities Act public accommodation disputes.  She also provides preventative advice and counsel, works with clients to develop effective ADA policies and practices, and coordinates with experts on remediation.

Single-plaintiff employment defense litigation for Bank of America N.A., Bank of America Home Loans, Merrill Lynch, Kaiser Permanente, and Stewart Enterprises

Represent large organizations in defending single-plaintiff employment matters--before and after the filing of a lawsuit--in the areas of discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, wage and hour, and breach of contract. (Ongoing)

Farmer v. Searles Valley Minerals Operations

Defense counsel in action alleging disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, and interference with alleged union-organizing. Obtained summary judgment on all claims. (2011)

Gash v. Pensar Big, Inc.

Defense counsel in case alleging discrimination in public accommodations. (2008)

HR Advisors v. HR Now

Lead plaintiff's counsel in action alleging misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair business practices. Obtained preliminary injunction prohibiting unlawful solicitation of plaintiff's customers by its former executive-level employee. (2008)
