Jeffrey Carter concentrates his practice on transactional intellectual property matters, with a focus on clients in the media, entertainment, and advertising industries. Jeffrey regularly provides counseling and production legal services to film and television production companies, television networks, and theatrical producers, including the British Broadcasting Corporation, Showtime, Starz, Amazon Studios, RKO Pictures, the NYU Production Lab, Disarming Films, and Still Point Pictures. Jeffrey’s production legal experience is varied in nature and spans the production lifecycle for television, film, and theatrical productions, including the drafting and negotiation of agreements relating to the acquisition of underlying rights; the engagement of authors, directors, choreographers, editors, songwriters, and script consultants; the acquisition of rights to use certain properties as filmed locations; production financing (including the management and supervision of related federal and state securities filings); inbound and outbound content licensing (including clip licenses, character licenses, and master recording/synchronization licenses); and the leasing of theaters and production-related equipment. He has worked on a wide range of film, television, and theatrical projects, including "House of Lies," "The Affair," "Power," "Inside the Actors Studio," and the Broadway productions "After Midnight," and "No Man’s Land."

Jeffrey also advises clients in a wide range of industries on advertising, marketing, and promotional law issues. Jeffrey regularly drafts and negotiates celebrity talent agreements for the production of advertising and marketing materials spanning all forms of media, with representative talent including prominent film and television actors, pop icons, musicians, professional athletes, models, comedians, video bloggers, and celebrity chefs. In addition, Jeffrey routinely counsels clients on regulatory issues involving various promotional activities, such as contests and sweepstakes. Jeffrey has a background in corporate finance and securities law.
