Kathy Drummy has extensive experience working with health care entities industry wide, from hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, to hospices, home health agencies and mental health care providers. She has handled matters involving various federal and California agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services and the California Departments of Health, Mental Health, Social Services and Education. Kathy offers long-standing experience in the regulatory, transactional and litigation aspects of health care law, from Medicare and Medicaid matters to bankruptcy proceedings.

Representative Experience

Medicare and medicaid administrative appeals

Represent major hospital systems in numerous administrative appeals with successful resolutions. (Ongoing)

MIA litigation

Advise Stanislaus county in litigation challenging its Medically Indigent Adult Program. (Ongoing)

Health care litigation for consortium of 18 mental health care providers

Represented a consortium of 18 mental health care providers in a dispute with the County of Los Angeles and the state of California involving the implementation of a faulty Medi-Cal billing system. (2009)

Acquisition of regional medical center for Providence Health System

Represented Providence Health System, Southern California in its acquisition of Tarzana Regional Medical Center, a general acute care hospital located in Tarzana, Calif., from affiliates of Tenet Healthcare. This transaction was unusual in that the real estate was acquired from a ground lessor (which ground leased the hospital property to Tenet) and the hospital business from Tenet. (2008)

Represented plaintiff in litigation in respect to Short-Doyle Medi-Cal claims processing. BC 341409 (2005)
