Ron Cai has more than 20 years of legal experience assisting clients in U.S.-China business projects. He concentrates on foreign investment in China. He handles general business and corporate law for multinational companies in China, international business transactions, dispute resolution, and international mergers & acquisitions. Ron also advises clients on contract law, employment and labor law, intellectual property rights, technology licensing, international finance, regulatory approvals, and corporate compliance auditing. Ron is familiar with a wide range of industries, including, e-commerce, health care, high-tech, renewable energy, infrastructure projects, media and entertainment, and retail and distribution. He also represents Chinese companies in their business transactions and litigation in the U.S. Ron speaks and writes frequently on U.S.-Chinese business issues.

International infrastructure project

Represented a consortium of Chinese companies in several major infrastructure projects in the United States. (2011)

Purchase of equity interest

Represented a British real estate investment company in the purchase of the equity interest in a Chinese company that owns retail shops and office buildings in China. (2011)

Purchase of equity interest

Represented a PE fund in the purchase of an equity interest in a Chinese company that owns and operates waste water treatment and drinking water supply facilities in five Chinese cities. (2011)

Arbitration in China

Successfully represented two clients -- one client before CITEAC arbitration penal in Beijing, and the other before another CITEAC arbitration penal in Shanghai. (2010)

Arbitration in the United States

Successfully represented a Chinese company in a litigation case in California and related JAMs arbitration in San Francisco. (2010)

Project financing for commercial bank

Represented a Chinese bank in connection with the Bank's participation as a lender in the approximately $14 billion project financing of the PNG LNG Project, an upstream gas development and liquefaction facility located in Papua New Guinea. (2010)

Acquisition of stock and other assets

Represented a U.K.-based media company in its purchase of a PRC company specializing in reverse engineering to protect media and technology companies against IP infringement. The transaction involved the off-shore purchase of the stock of a BVI company and the on-shore purchase of the assets of several Chinese companies. (2009)

Acquisition of Chinese businesses

Represented a leading U.S. paper products manufacturer, a leading U.S. tire manufacturer, and a leading Canadian wood products manufacturer in the strategic purchases of several Chinese companies. (2008)

Divestiture from joint ventures in China

Represented a U.S. truck component manufacturer in divesting from two separate joint ventures with Chinese truck manufacturers. (2008)

Purchase of assets

Represented a U.S.-based media company in its purchase of a PRC company that distributes Chinese business and financial data. The transaction included assets purchased for affiliates based in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Singapore. (2008)
