  • Discrimination and Retaliation
  • Unlawful Harassment
  • Managing Attendance/Employee Leave Rights
  • Hiring Practices
  • Discipline and Termination
Program Length: Generally 2 to 4 hours

Respectful Work Environment/Anti-Harassment/Sexual Harassment

For Employees:
Builds an understanding of acceptable/unacceptable conduct in the workplace and reinforces what employees should do if they are offended or feel harassed. The program establishes workplace norms for respectful behavior and encourages employees to discuss their concerns with one another.

Program Length: 60 to 90 minutes

For Managers:
In addition to the training for employees, managers learn their duties to ensure a respectful, discrimination-free work environment and strategies to competently respond to employee complaints of harassment.

Program Length: 30 minutes longer than the Employee program

Employees with Disabilities

Provides Managers an understanding of the employer’s obligations to accommodate employees with disabilities. Can they request medical information? Can absences lead to disciplinary action? How far does the accommodation obligation go? This interactive session gives managers the tools they need to help you succeed.

Program Length: 1 to 2 hours

Managing in a Drug-Free Work Environment

Reviews the legal framework for employers to manage drug and alcohol issues, the company drug and alcohol policy, the signs of drug and alcohol misuse/abuse and the manager’s obligations. Particularly useful for employers subject to Department of Transportation drug testing requirements and those with active drug testing programs.

Program Length: 1 to 2 hours

Maintaining a Discrimination-Free Work Environment

Reinforces the employer’s equal employment opportunity policy, including the channels to report concerns. The anti-harassment program can easily be combined with this program. At the end of the program, Managers receive an additional discussion regarding their role in a discrimination-free environment and response to an employee complaint.

Program Length: 60 to 90 minutes (plus 30 additional minutes for managers)

Cultural Leadership Training

For Managers:

“Managing to Win”

Helps Managers identify your “business case” for diversity. The program gives Managers the leadership skills necessary to inspire optimal contributions from each employee, regardless of background, and create an environment for excellence. The training also gives managers a basic understanding of discrimination and harassment laws that govern workplace behavior and how to foster positive workplace discussions and interactions.

Program Length: 60 to 70 minutes

For Employees:

“Working Together to Win”

Helps employees make their cultural differences a positive feature of the work environment. The program helps employees deal effectively with people from diverse backgrounds by overcoming biases. Working closely with your HR staff, the program focuses on understanding and implementing your company’s business case for diversity and teaching employees their role in maintaining a respectful work environment.

Topics can include:

  • Your company’s business case for diversity
  • Diversity “best practices”
  • Discrimination, harassment and maintaining a respectful workplace
  • Solving the mystery of “affirmative action” and “reverse discrimination”
  • Hiring—fishing for talent in different watering holes
  • Mentoring—why mentoring is important for all employees
  • Retention Success
  • Active listening—improving employee communication
Program Length: 60 to 90 minutes

Responding to a Union Organizing Campaign

Gives managers and supervisors an understanding of the legal restrictions on their conduct during a union organizing drive. Working closely with your “team,” the session provides practical guidance to help the managers best present your position while remaining within the legal guidelines.

Program Length: 60 to 90 minutes

Managing In a Unionized Environment

Provides managers and supervisors an understanding of the ways your collective bargaining agreement affects their management strategies and builds their confidence to manage unionized employees. This is ideal for first-time managers or for all managers following negotiation of a first union contract.

Program Length: 2 to 3 hours
