Employment and Labor Law
The Health Law Group's employment lawyers provide advice to healthcare
employers throughout the country. The firm is experienced in representing
public and private, as well as nonprofit and for profit, healthcare
organizations in employment, employee benefit, immigration, executive
compensation and union matters. Our knowledge of the healthcare
industry enables us to quickly understand and help solve the unique
problems and concerns affecting this industry.
The firm's traditional labor lawyers provide strategic advice,
counsel and representation of healthcare organizations in response
to union organizing campaigns and representation (e.g., union) election
proceedings, help negotiate and administer collective bargaining
agreements, assist nonunion employers to maintain a union-free work
force, and defend unfair labor practice charges. We regularly represent
healthcare organizations before the NLRB and state labor boards
on labor relations matters. Our traditional labor lawyers have considerable
experience with strike planning and prevention.
The firm's employment lawyers also defend healthcare employers
in single plaintiff and class action discrimination, wrongful termination,
wage and hour, and unfair competition lawsuits. They regularly represent
employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, local
and state anti-discrimination agencies, and other federal and state
agencies which regulate employers, such as OSHA, the Department
of Labor, or state labor or industry commissions. The firm also
advises healthcare employers on personnel policies and handbooks,
conducts training sessions for healthcare human resources professionals
and managers, audits employer compliance with the wage and hour
laws, assists with layoffs, reorganizations and hospital work redesign
programs, and provides cost effective counsel on other employment-related
matters.
