Faculty

Gerry Hinkley is a partner in the San Francisco office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, where he co-chairs the Health Information Technology Practice Group. This group focuses on community network development and finance, network user participation, system procurement, regulatory compliance and privacy. Hinkley has been involved with governance, network user and privacy projects for the California HealthCare Foundation, Connecting for Health (a program of the Markle Foundation and The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation), The California Endowment and CalRHIO. An active member of the National Alliance for Health Information Technology, Hinkley addresses regulatory compliance, governance and CPOE procurement initiatives. He also serves as a member of the Steering Group of Connecting for Health, the Certification Process Advisory Group of the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology and as a technical advisor to the American Health Information Management Association State Level RHIO Consensus Best Practices Steering Committee. Hinkley also has served as a faculty member at the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health, Privacy and Confidentiality Workshops.

Joseph M. DeLuca, Managing Practice Director, IT Optimizers, has more than 20 years of diverse clinical information systems experience with health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers and independent physician associations. Known for his ability to transform high-level business objectives into successful, executable business strategies, DeLuca is on the forefront of new generation business to technology alignment. A frequent speaker at regional and national conferences, DeLuca encourages health care information technology leaders to unify information technology and business processes within the context of near- and long-term trends and influences. Most recently, DeLuca received the American College of Healthcare Executives Regent’s Senior Leadership Award for service to the healthcare community. The second edition of his co-authored book, The CEO’s Guide to Health Care Information Systems, is now available from Jossey-Bass. A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, DeLuca received his master's degree in health services administration from the University of Wisconsin.
