As the first U.S. law firm authorized to establish an office in Shanghai, DWT has the knowledge and experience to represent clients in all aspects of foreign direct investment. Our China Practice Group consists of over 20 professionals who provide comprehensive legal counsel to businesses from all over the world. Most of these professionals are bilingual and include native speakers of Mandarin, Shanghainese and English. They are supported by legal consultants, translators and legal assistants with the same array of language and cultural skills. All of our China Practice attorneys have U.S. legal educations and are admitted to practice in the United States. The China practitioners based in our American offices also received legal educations in China before moving to the United States.

The attorneys who staff our Shanghai office have received U.S. legal educations and are admitted to practice law in the United States. Collectively, the lawyers in our Shanghai office have many years of experience handling business transactions between China and the United States. They include native speakers of Shanghai dialect, Taiwan dialect and Cantonese, and most are fluent in Mandarin and English. Our legal assistants have native fluency in the Shanghai dialect, Cantonese and Taiwan dialects as well as Mandarin and English.

Ron Cai is the Partner-in-Charge and the Chief Representative of the Shanghai office. Norm Page and Gary Locke are the Co-Chairs of the China Practice Group. All have many years of experience handling business transactions in China and throughout East Asia, and each actively participates in advising our Shanghai office clients and documenting their China projects.

In addition, the China Practice Group frequently obtains assistance from the firm's U.S.-based attorneys in various practice areas, including real estate, tax, securities, finance, energy, environmental, immigration, litigation and dispute resolution and general business.
