Davis Wright Tremaine LLP to Add 10 Attorneys in New York
Prominent attorneys of Kay & Boose LLP to join firm, enhancing its national reputation in the areas of intellectual property, communications, media and commercial litigation

SEATTLE AND NEW YORK, APRIL 21, 2003—Davis Wright Tremaine LLP (DWT), a national law firm with more than 400 lawyers, announced today that its New York office will be adding 10 attorneys currently with the firm of Kay & Boose LLP, a New York law firm which is planning to cease its practice.
Six partners and four associates from Kay & Boose will be joining DWT's New York office. They are Kay & Boose Managing Partner R. Andrew Boose; partners David P. Callahan, M. Graham Coleman, Nancy J. Felsten, Leonard Orkin and Marcia B. Paul; and associates Robert J. Driscoll, Lance Koonce, Teena H. Lee and James Rosenfeld.

"We simply couldn't have found a better match," said Victor A. Kovner, DWT partner who is co-chair of the firm's national communications and media law practice. "Our new colleagues from Kay & Boose blend perfectly with our practices and culture. Not only do we have long-standing professional relationships and personal friendships with many of these attorneys, we also share a number of clients. By combining our strengths, we greatly enhance the services we provide our clients not only in New York, but throughout the nation."

"We have been actively exploring growth opportunities to enhance our practices and increase the breadth of our client services," said Sharon Schneier, the partner-in-charge of DWT's New York office. "We were very fortunate to find colleagues who bring so much expertise and are a perfect fit."

Mr. Boose stated, "We also feel very fortunate that, just at the time Kay & Boose had decided to begin winding down its practice, our friends at DWT were looking to increase the size of their New York office, especially in the intellectual property and litigation areas. Those of us at Kay & Boose who will be joining DWT see it as an outstanding opportunity to continue and expand our practice in a national firm which will enable us to provide the best possible service for our clients."

Boose focuses his practice in entertainment, intellectual property and corporate/commercial law for clients in publishing, live theater, film, television, popular and classical music and fine art, including producers and publishers as well as writers, artists, musicians and the heirs of leading composers and writers.

Marcia Paul is a nationally-known litigator who has handled a wide variety of copyright, trademark, libel and related intellectual property litigation for major media and communications companies and manufacturers. Lance Koonce, James Rosenfeld and Teena Lee are also litigators focusing a substantial portion of their time on intellectual property and media matters.

Leonard Orkin's practice in the advertising industry encompasses regulatory law, broadcaster-advertiser relationships and intellectual property. Nancy J. Felsten is actively involved in the advertising practice and counsels a wide range of clients on clearance, copyright, trademark and trade regulatory issues. Robert Driscoll assists in the advertising practice and also handles transactional intellectual property matters.

M. Graham Coleman's practice focus is in entertainment and intellectual property, with particular emphasis on theater, film and television financing and production, as well as copyright, trademark and licensing matters.

David P. Callahan is a trusts and estates lawyer with special expertise in tax matters relating to employee benefits and executive compensation.

With the addition of the 10 attorneys, DWT now has 30 attorneys in its New York office and more than 90 attorneys practicing intellectual property law, including First Amendment, copyright, trademark, trade secret and patent issues, with licensing and litigation expertise in all areas. The firm represents a number of national clients, which, as noted on the DWT website, include Sesame Workshop, Random House, New York Daily News, Village Voice Media, Simon & Schuster, McGraw-Hill, Wenner Media, Paramount Pictures, Columbia Pictures, CBS, St. Martin's Press, Microsoft Corp., Viacom and AOL/Time Warner. DWT, long ranked as one of the nation's leading 200 law firms, was the first Pacific Northwest-based law firm to establish a New York office.

Davis Wright Tremaine is a full service business and litigation firm, with national practices in the areas of communications and media, intellectual property, litigation, among others. The firm has more than 400 attorneys in its 9 offices located in Anchorage; Bellevue, Wash.; Seattle; Portland, Oregon; Los Angeles; San Francisco; New York; Washington, D.C.; and Shanghai, China.
