Davis Wright Tremaine Partner Michael Reiss Inducted
as Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers
SEATTLE, WA—Michael
Reiss, a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP (DWT), was recently
elected as a Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
Election as a Fellow is the highest recognition by one's colleagues
of sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying
integrity, dedication and excellence.
Reiss has taught and practiced employment law for more than 30 years, as a law professor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regional attorney, and partner at DWT. He has successfully tried jury and non-jury cases, including class actions; served as a mediator and court-appointed special master; is a frequent speaker on employment law topics, and was president of the William L. Dwyer American Inn of Court in Seattle. Reiss teaches trial advocacy at the University of Washington Law School and has served on the faculty of trial practice seminars for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, the National Employment Law Institute, the American and Washington State Bar Associations and other professional organizations. He graduated from Harvard College and Yale Law School.
The 12th installation of Fellows will be held November 10, 2007 in Philadelphia, coinciding with the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section’s Continuing Legal Education Conference. With the current installation, the College is represented by over 910 members in 42 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Canada.
The College was the vision of a number of the Fellows. The idea was to further establish this profession in all its aspects as one uniquely important to the world of labor and employment law, individual rights, collective bargaining and dispute resolution. The College was established in 1995 through an initiative of the Council of The Section of Labor and Employment Law of The American Bar Association. It operates as a free standing organization recognizing those who, by long and outstanding service, have distinguished themselves as leaders in the field.
