Davis Wright Tremaine Responds to China’s
Banking Liberalization, Sees Opportunities for American Financial
Service Companies
Firm Relocates Finance and China Practice Co-Chair Norm Page
to Shanghai
SEATTLE
AND SHANGHAI, (Nov. 14, 2007) – The international
law firm Davis Wright Tremaine LLP (DWT), announced today that partner
Norm
Page has relocated to the firm’s Shanghai office and will
help grow the firm’s financial services and technology practices
in China. Page served as Chair of DWT’s firm-wide Executive
Committee for ten years before stepping down to concentrate on the
China practice. He will continue to serve as Co-Chair of both the
China and the Finance and Commercial Law Practice Groups.
“China’s banking liberalization presents U.S. financial
service companies with unprecedented opportunities,” said
Gary Locke, co-chair of DWT’s China Practice Group and former
two-time governor of Washington state. “Norm’s presence
on the ground in China will provide U.S. companies with the expertise
needed to enter and navigate what will soon become the world’s
largest financial services market.”
“The opening of China’s financial services sector creates
a unique opportunity for U.S. companies, especially in the areas
of consumer products and consumer finance” commented Page.
“After years of anticipation, the age of the Chinese consumer
has arrived. The business environment in Shanghai has changed more
in the past two years than in the dozen years before. Shanghai,
at this moment, is a very exciting place to be.”
DWT is widely recognized as one of the leading law firms on the
West Coast of the United States in the representation of the financial
services and technology industries including commercial banks, credit
card companies, Internet and online payment companies, and finance
