Davis Wright Tremaine's Chaimov Appointed to City
Council of Milwaukie, Oregon
PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 7 2007
- Gregory
Chaimov, of counsel at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, has been appointed
to the Milwaukie City Council in Oregon. He fills a seat vacated
by Carlotta Collette and will remain in office at least until the
next election in March 2008.
At DWT, Chaimov is part of the government relations practice where
he advises business clients in their dealings with governments at
all levels. Prior to joining the firm, Chaimov served Oregon's legislature
as chief counsel and Oregon's Attorney General as the attorney in
charge of unit that handled the state's most challenging lawsuits.
This past year he was the vice chair of the task force that proposed
the successful expansion of the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners.
"My legal experience has trained me to bring together many
parties with opposing views on complex issues. I enjoy helping people
reach consensus on matters that on the outset seem hard to solve,"
said Chaimov.
An attorney with more than 20 years of experience, he is a member
of the Oregon State Bar, and is admitted to the United States Courts
of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits and the United States
District Court for the District of Oregon. Chaimov received his
juris doctor, cum laude, from Northwestern School of Law
of Lewis and Clark College in 1982, and a bachelor of arts, magna
cum laude, from Carleton College in 1978.
