We believe that a diverse work force provides better service for our clients and a better work environment for our attorneys. Recruitment, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys are a priority for DWT. We have hosted minority job fairs in our Seattle office and regularly interview at other minority job fairs. We are active in and support our lawyers’ involvement in ethnic bar associations. We have established a diversity committee to focus on increasing the numbers of attorneys of color we hire and retain firm-wide and to provide mentoring opportunities to these lawyers.


	At DWT, we believe that increasing the diversity of our attorneys and staff is central to DWT's ability to fulfill its commitments to its clients and the community. In short, diversity is critical to DWT's long-term success.

Some of our offices have active Women Lawyers’ Groups which meet to discuss issues and ideas ranging from networking and marketing issues to tips and techniques on achieving balance in one’s life. The firm also periodically sponsors a weekend retreat for women lawyers to afford the opportunity to connect and support each other in the legal profession.

To help us meet our commitment to diversity, we have established the DWT 1L Diversity Scholarship Program. This year, DWT awards three 1L scholarships, which consist of a paid Summer Clerkship (two positions in our Seattle office and one position in our Portland office) and $7,500 for the student’s second year tuition and expenses.
