SEATTLE, SEPT. 6, 2012 – Chrys Martin, a partner in the employment practice group at David Wright Tremaine LLP, has been honored with the Louis B. Potter Lifetime Professional Service Award from DRI, the leading organization of defense attorneys and in-house counsel.
Martin, who practices in Davis Wright's Portland, Ore., office, will be presented with the award at DRI’s annual meeting in New Orleans next month.
According to DRI, the Potter award "honors an individual who exemplifies the highest professionalism and service to the legal profession." The award is named for the longtime executive director of the organization.
"Chrys’s clients and opposing counsel have long recognized her extraordinary integrity," said Carol Bernick, partner-in-charge at DWT’s Portland office. "We are very pleased that her dedication to the highest standards of civil litigation defense is being acknowledged by such an important organization in our profession."
In a letter to Martin, DRI’s current and incoming presidents wrote: "For several years your service to DRI has set a standard by which all others are judged."
Martin's involvement with DRI (whose initials stand for Defense Research Institute) has included serving as chair of both the employee benefits and employment law committees, each of which has hundreds of members, and being a member of the strategic planning committee. Martin was also elected to the board of the 700-member Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, which is a state affiliate of DRI, and was its first female chair.
Martin's excellence as a practicing attorney has been recognized by all the major ranking services, including Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Martindale-Hubbell. She offers her clients 31 years of experience in complex employment and ERISA litigation, including class actions.
