FEBRUARY 6, 2014 – Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is pleased to have worked in partnership with the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) and the Honorary Consul of Spain in Seattle to assist with legal documentation for the highly anticipated exhibition, "Miró: The Experience of Seeing."

The exhibition, which opens February 13, is drawn entirely from the collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. It comprises over 50 paintings, drawings, and sculptures made by Joan Miró between 1963 and his death in 1983.

In response to a special request from the Honorary Consul of Spain in Seattle, Davis Wright attorney Francisco Olmedo, a native of Spain, provided assistance to SAM’s general counsel in reviewing and translating the collaboration agreement between SAM and the Museo Reina Sofía.

"I was delighted to have an opportunity to help with this exciting exhibition," Olmedo said.

"We always appreciate the opportunity to work with Davis Wright," said Bernel Goldberg, general counsel for SAM. "Support from excellent attorneys such as Francisco helps us bring great art to this great city."

In addition to Olmedo’s pro bono work, Davis Wright has joined with many other partners to provide financial support. The firm is part of the exhibition’s Miró Corporate Circle, whose members include several leading Spanish companies doing business here in Washington, as well as the Spanish Tourist Office of Los Angeles.

In November 2013, Davis Wright partnered with Garrigues, the largest tax and legal services firm on the Iberian Peninsula, and the Honorary Consul of Spain in Seattle, to organize the first USA-Spain Business Forum, hosted at Davis Wright’s Seattle office. The event attracted a host of executives for a discussion of business opportunities, both in Spain for U.S. companies and in Washington state for Spanish companies. Olmedo helped spearhead the event.

Olmedo received a J.D., and a B.A. in Business Administration, from Universidad San Pablo CEU, Madrid, and an L.L.M. from University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. He spent six years as an associate with Garrigues in its New York and Madrid offices prior to joining Davis Wright last year. He is admitted to practice in New York state and Spain.
