AUGUST 16, 2018 – Davis Wright Tremaine has deepened its market-leading consumer financial services practice with the addition of Bradford Hardin, who joins the firm as a partner in its Washington, D.C., office.

Mr. Hardin brings extensive experience helping financial institutions, FinTech ventures, and technology companies navigate government investigations and supervisory examinations. He also advises clients on complex regulatory issues including fair lending, debt collection, and military lending. Mr. Hardin previously practiced for eight years in the Washington, D.C., office of WilmerHale.

“Financial services clients are continuing to see a steady flow of investigation and enforcement activity,” said Claude Goetz, chair of DWT’s financial services practice. “Bradford’s experience as outside counsel at a top-flight firm will be extremely valuable to our clients facing these high-stakes challenges and will be highly beneficial to clients grappling with evolving regulations as they design and launch new products. Bradford complements our existing regulatory and supervision, enforcement, and litigation team members, who bring insight from prior experience at leading financial institutions, the CFPB, and state attorney general offices.”

Mr. Hardin advises banks, credit unions, loan servicers, auto lenders, and technology companies on a wide array of banking and consumer protection issues. He concentrates his enforcement and supervision practice on matters before the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, the Department of Justice, and state regulatory authorities.

He has defended contentious examinations and investigations in areas as diverse as consumer fraud, sales practices, student loans, military lending, credit advertising and promotions, data security, mortgage foreclosure and government mortgage programs, savings and cash sweep accounts, payment systems, and consumer reporting, among others.

Mr. Hardin earned his B.S. at the University of South Alabama and his J.D. at University of Alabama School of Law. Early in his career, he served as a law clerk in the Middle District of Alabama.
