JANUARY 15, 2015 – Allison May, a lawyer with extensive experience assisting clients with a wide array of complex transactions, has joined the payments group at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP in Washington, D.C., as Counsel.

"Payments is spawning tremendous innovation right now and we are very pleased to add a sophisticated lawyer like Allison to our growing team," said Claude Goetz, chair of Davis Wright Tremaine’s financial services practice group. "This is an area of key strategic focus for our clients and our firm."

May’s experience includes almost a decade at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in D.C., where she counseled clients seeking to leverage proprietary technology through joint ventures, strategic alliances, and licensing relationships. She had particular experience in transactions for the financial services and software industries.

"I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such an energetic group of lawyers," said May. "Having spent time as in-house counsel, I was particularly drawn to the team’s focus on client service and providing value beyond the provision of legal services."

May was most recently an associate general counsel at Verizon Corp.

She received a B.A. from Stanford University, and an M.B.A. and J.D. from Georgetown University.

The growth of DWT’s payments team has included the recent addition of two associates in D.C., Adam Maarec and Kelly Zemil.
