APRIL 7, 2015 – Karen Henry, counsel in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, has been named to The National Black Lawyers: Top 100 in Southern California.

The National Black Lawyers is an invitation-only honorary organization whose mission is to promote excellence in the legal profession. According to the organization, the Top 100 list is composed of the 100 black lawyers in each state or region who best exemplify superior qualifications and leadership in their area of specialty.

Litigating in state and federal court, Henry maintains a broad and diverse practice, focusing primarily on media, IP, and entertainment law. She defends clients in a range of matters, including copyright, trademark, right-of-publicity, theft of ideas, defamation, and invasion of privacy litigation. She also has extensive expertise in defending news organizations against subpoenas, in gaining access to court proceedings and records, in defending clients in business disputes against claims for breach of contract, fraud, unfair competition and other business torts, and in representing newspapers in adjudication proceedings.

Last year, Henry was named to the second annual “Hot List” by the publishing and research company Lawyers of Color. The list honors early- to mid-career attorneys of color who are excelling in the profession. The past two years, Henry has been named a “Rising Star” in Southern California by the lawyer-ranking organization Super Lawyers.
