Technology has transformed legal systems. Technology lawyers worldwide have witnessed the powerful harmonizing force of technology whether using soft law or prescriptive regulations that have accelerated convergence between legal regimes and collaboration between regulators. In addition, technology is breaking down the barriers between legal disciplines, such as competition and criminal law, and is renewing the lenses and assumptions under which those disciplines have been operating for decades.
On Thursday, November 7, DWT partner Bob Stankey will speak on a panel exploring the local data protection and privacy frameworks of Switzerland, Canada, France, and Latin America, as part of the IBA 6th Biennial Technology Law Conference in Berlin.

- The challenges associated with adequacy decisions, negotiation, and implementation
- The extraterritorial effects of data protection and privacy laws
- Tensions between regulatory investigation and data protection laws
