Court rules in favor of merchants on swipe fees
National Restaurant Association Restaurateurs won a major victory when the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. ruled July 31 that the Federal Reserve’s final rule on debit-card transaction fees violated Congressional intent to issue regulations ensuring swipe fees for merchants were “reasonable and proportional” to the cost of processing the transactions. |

Brighter outlook for restaurant benefits and salaries
QSR Magazine Earlier this year, People Report released results from the compensation portion of the 2013 survey. Following an increase in salaries for 85 percent of corporate employees and 74 percent of restaurant managers in 2012, 2013 results showed salaries for hourly restaurant employees and corporate positions budgeted to increase on average by as much as 2.7 percent. |
