Karol Lyn Newman is a veteran energy lawyer with experience representing clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), with a focus on entities in the natural gas industry. Her experience with FERC includes the prosecution and litigation of certificate proceedings, abandonment proceedings, rate proceedings, tariff proceedings, and enforcement proceedings. Karol Lyn also regularly counsels her clients on regulatory requirements related to the development of interstate pipeline and storage projects, assists in strategizing the sale and acquisition of regulated assets, and supplies guidance on corporate reorganizations, restructurings, and contract realignments from a regulatory perspective.

Karol Lyn often consults on matters involving federal/state jurisdiction, interagency jurisdiction, federal preemption, eminent domain, regulatory takings, statutory interpretation, affiliated transactions, and environmental concerns. She administers FERC compliance training and helps develop internal compliance programs for her clients on a regular basis. In addition, Karol Lyn is an experienced appellate lawyer, having served as lead counsel on many appeals of FERC orders to the United States Courts of Appeals.
