Maayan Lattin

Maayan Lattin focuses her practice on privacy and data protection-related matters, and advises organizations on domestic and international law and policy concerning the collection and use of personal information and other sensitive data including financial information, criminal history information, health information, and human resources information. She helps conduct privacy impact assessments, and advises clients on privacy best practices.

Maayan has worked with a range of entities from telecommunications carriers and broadband providers to technology and internet companies on transactional and regulatory matters. She has advised companies on a variety of privacy laws and regulations, reviewed and prepared privacy and record retention policies, developed internal privacy compliance programs, and conducted employee privacy training. Maayan has experience working on student and child online privacy issues; internet and mobile advertising matters; privacy considerations for background screeners and employers; and a wide variety of emerging privacy issues involving biometric data, mobile health applications, and payment processing systems.

General privacy and security counseling

Counseling clients on compliance with variety of privacy laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the FTC Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CANSPAM Act, Consumer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) regulations, the Communications Act, the Video Privacy Protection Act, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA) and the Safeguards Rule, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), and Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). Privacy program compliance audits and assessments

Reviewing business privacy policies and security procedures to audit for legal and compliance gaps, and assisting in offering remediation options including revising policies and conducting employee trainings. Assisting in the preparation of internal company privacy and security policies and related procedures; and helping develop privacy assessments and comprehensive privacy programs. (Ongoing)

Counseling on online advertising and consumer tracking

Drafting online privacy policies and counseling clients on the ethical and security risks associated with consumer online tracking. Assisting in navigating through self-regulatory principles and codes of conduct related to online behavioral advertising. (Ongoing)

FTC investigations

Assisting client in responding to Federal Trade Commission Civil Investigative Demand (CID) by preparing answers to interrogatories, organizing and redacting responsive materials, and helping advise the client on how to properly respond to material requests by the commission. (Ongoing)

Incident response

Assisting clients with responding to information security incidents, including helping prepare incident response and privacy compliance programs, internal incident escalation plans, and communications to consumers, government entities, and consumer reporting agencies. (Ongoing)
