Nathan W. Rouse focuses his practice on complex litigation, with particular emphasis on disputes concerning government or commercial contracts, large-scale construction projects, and criminal defense. He recently rejoined the firm after completing two federal judicial clerkships, one at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the other at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

SolstenXP Electric & Telecom v. Marshall’s Electric

Defeated summary judgment motion seeking to dismiss client’s Unfair Trade Practices claim after preparing briefs and presenting oral argument. (Anchorage (Alaska) Super. Ct. 2015)

CCI v. Secretary of the Army*

Appealed adverse agency decision in the U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals on a differing site conditions claim arising from a significant wartime construction project in Iraq. (Fed. Cir. 2014)

Representing the Transit Authority in bid protest by disappointed offeror involving MetroAccess Service Delivery contracts awarded in 2013. (D. Md. 2017)

ARKRAY USA v. United States*

Brief writing responsibilities in successful bid protest challenging award of $166 million federal procurement in which the U.S. Court of Federal Claims ruled in client’s favor that the Defense Health Agency had acted arbitrarily and capriciously by awarding purchase agreement to competing bidder. (Fed. Cl. 2014)

Defending corporate executives in connection with federal and state criminal prosecution for money laundering. (Ongoing)

In re Sandoval

Representing (pro bono) client ordered to serve 76-year prison sentence as an accomplice to a shooting where principal offenders obtained plea deals to serve sentences as short as 11 years. Obtained reversal of first-degree murder conviction in the Washington State Supreme Court, In re Sandoval, 408 P.3d 675 (Wash. 2018). (Ongoing)

Representing supplier of environmental products in action to enforce exclusive sales representative agreement with manufacturer. (W.D. Wash. Ongoing)

Veale v. Washington Fugitive Investigations

Defended fugitive recovery company and bail agent against civil lawsuit relating to a firearm discharge during operation to apprehend a fugitive. (Pierce Cnty. (Wash.) Super. Ct., 2017-2018)

Cooke, et al. v. Equal Energy, Inc., et al.*

Represented Equal Energy in multiple state and federal class actions filed over the purchase of Equal Energy by Petroflow. Following motions practice, reached a favorable class action settlement. (2014)
