Alexandra Barrage is a former FDIC Executive who helps clients find efficient, comprehensive, and practical solutions to a wide range of complex regulatory and supervisory challenges. She has over fifteen years advising clients in the private sector and is skilled at providing financial institutions and nonbank technology companies with strategic advice on supervisory examinations and enforcement issues before federal and state regulators.
She has also advised community and mid-sized banks, lender groups, and the largest U.S. banking institutions on a variety of regulatory and restructuring matters and technology initiatives. She works with fintechs on launching and scaling new products, and advises one of the largest global technology companies in their role as a bank service provider.
Alex has had live media appearances on Bloomberg's "The Close," and is a frequent speaker on banking, fintech, and digital asset developments both domestically and abroad. She has written extensively on banking developments and been quoted in American Banker, Bloomberg Law, Coindesk, Risk, TruthDAO, and CoinTelegraph.
Equipped with a forward-thinking and analytical point of view, Alex identifies key issues and trade-offs and is skilled at driving consensus. She is detail-oriented and mindful of the big picture. She is actively involved with several industry organizations in responding to bank regulatory, central bank digital currency, and digital asset developments, and has provided technical assistance to congressional staff on developing legislation.
Alex worked at the FDIC for over seven years. During her time as an Associate Director, Alex served as the Division of Complex Institution Supervision and Resolution's lead regulatory policy expert, focusing on U.S. and global regulatory issues impacting the largest and most systemically important banking institutions. She worked closely with Federal Reserve staff on resolution plan rules, related guidance, and feedback letters, and also supported interagency operational resilience work. Her role included engaging directly with banking institutions and trade associations, coordinating with supervisory colleagues on bank engagements, and interagency rule implementation, and providing technical assistance to congressional staff.
