Dan T. Brown
Partner
Dan represents clients in securities enforcement matters, including regulatory proceedings, parallel criminal cases, and complex commercial litigation. He also counsels clients on compliance with securities regulations covering regulated-entity operations and disclosures related to the sale of securities and private company investments.
In more than 25 years of practice, Dan has obtained favorable results for clients through his advocacy before courts, representation before regulators, and negotiations to resolve disputes. Practitioners and judges regularly endorse Dan's advocacy skills. To position his clients for successful outcomes, Dan tailors his representation in each matter to leverage opportunities and contain threats presented by their circumstances.
Dan previously served as branch chief, senior attorney, and staff attorney at the Security and Exchange Commission's Division of Enforcement, in its Chicago office. He is also recognized for his deep experience with e-discovery and electronic records management issues and maintains memberships in two of the Sedona Conference's working groups.
After law school, Dan served as a law clerk to the Honorable James L. Latchum of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. He was a shareholder at McGonigle, P.C., before it combined with Davis Wright Tremaine
