Chrys helps clients stay out of trouble by providing daily advice and counseling on employment law and employee benefits issues based on prior hands-on management and human resources experience. Clients know she can get them out of trouble creatively and efficiently with over 35 years handling complex employment and ERISA litigation, including class actions. That depth of knowledge is applied to counseling employers and creating unique training programs for supervisors in HR best practices, including respectful workplaces and #MeToo issues. Clients say they appreciate her practical approach to problem solving. To keep her work exciting, she serves employers of all sizes from startups to multi-national corporations in all industries across the country.

Clients team with Chrys on sexual harassment prevention, employee handbooks, new pay equity, paid leave and predictive scheduling laws, NLRB issues, wage and hour laws, union negotiations and arbitrations, early incentive retirement programs, OFCCP, EEOC, DOL & BOLI complaints and audits, BOLI required property and janitorial services contractor training. She’s regularly asked to perform or direct complex personnel investigations. Chrys developed a unique manager training series and an employment practices audit to help clients proactively identify problem areas and implement HR best practices. Chrys also serves as an AAA arbitrator and is a frequent local and national speaker which keeps her skills sharp on new HR developments.

Representative Experience

Best practices audits and training

Conducts employment practices audits to determine compliance with state and federal laws and trains managers and staff on human resources best practices for restaurant, retail, manufacturing, and startup clients. (Ongoing)

Employee handbook development for local and national clients

Drafts and develops strategic personnel handbooks that address new employment law rulings by the National Labor Relations Board, sick leave laws, harassment, pay equity, and legalization of marijuana for startups to large corporations in all industries. (Ongoing)

Labor counseling and arbitrations

Negotiates neutrality agreements and addendums to master labor agreements; handles labor arbitrations and collective bargaining negotiations; defends against union organizing campaigns. (Ongoing)

Class action defense

Prevailed on wage and hour class action against a restaurant chain at summary judgment on majority of claims without class or collective action certification. Prevented wage and hour class action against a manufacturer pre-filing without any settlement payments. (2012)

Benefits and merger counseling for employers

Designs and implements early incentive retirement programs for government and private employers, as well as advising businesses on employee and benefits issues in the context of mergers and acquisitions. (Ongoing)

Department of Labor investigations for construction and forestry clients

Prevails at and negotiates favorable settlements  in Department of Labor investigations regarding prevailing wage, minimum wage, and overtime violations for major construction and forestry industry clients. (Ongoing)
