Lauren Schulz advises her clients on the importance of intellectual property rights, specifically in the areas of brand protection, commercial transactions and entertainment law. Lauren helps her clients strategize and develop best practices for trademark and copyright development, clearance and protection, licensing, maintenance, and enforcement. Her goal is to have open and honest communication with her clients while providing them with efficient and creative solutions.

Lauren focuses her practice on technology, gaming, and the performing arts involving music, film, design, digital media, and fashion. She has significant experience in trademark clearance and prosecution, negotiating settlement agreements for IP disputes, drafting professional service and media agreements with extensive branding partners, and advising clients on major publishing and recording projects involving music clearance, licensing, sampling and royalty rights.

Practice Highlights

Brand protection and content clearance

Lauren has represented hundreds of brand owners ranging from individuals and small businesses to large corporations. She assists them in securing trademark and copyright registrations, prosecution, enforcement and the overall management of their portfolios. In addition, Lauren has experience with content and title clearance involving online gaming and video game software, virtual reality experiences, commercials, and advertising content.

Music & entertainment

Lauren’s experience includes negotiating publishing agreements for Grammy nominated artists, counseling producers and songwriters on copyright issues with top-performing pop and hip-hop artists, and representing artists in multi-media branding and licensing opportunities.

Technology & commercial transactions

Lauren began her legal career advising tech startups in the music, sports and retail space. More recently, she has supported an industry leading computer software corporation with intellectual property prosecution and enforcement as well as a leading telecommunications company with negotiating commercial transactions, service agreements and its terms and conditions.
