JANUARY 3, 2018 – Camilo Echavarria, a partner in the Employment Services Group of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP and partner-in-charge for the firm’s Los Angeles office, has been recognized by Latino Leaders magazine as one of the country’s Top Latino Lawyers.

Camilo is a litigator who defends employers in single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action cases involving wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour issues, unfair competition, non-competes, and Unruh Act. In his appellate practice, Camilo has represented both appellants and appellees in state and federal courts, and has been successful in defending all grants of summary judgment that have been appealed.

His clients have included Bank of America, 24 Hour Fitness, Providence Health System, Sonic Healthcare USA, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Toyo Tires, and Compass Group USA.

Camilo’s two decades of experience includes over three years as in-house counsel for NBC Universal, which gives him firsthand knowledge of cost-effective ways to partner with clients and provide responsive, results-oriented counsel. He has developed numerous alternative fee arrangements for his corporate clients, enabling them to reduce legal spend and maintain budget predictability.

Camilo is also very active in the community. He serves as co-head of the board of directors for the California Minority Counsel Program, on the board of trustees for the Mexican American Bar Foundation, and on the board of directors for LK Health, a nonprofit medical clinic that provides health care to underserved and uninsured Latino populations and the general public in Los Angeles County. He is also the former Southern California president for the Hispanic National Bar Association.

Camilo’s other honors include being named:

  • one of the “Most Influential Minority Lawyers” in Los Angeles by the L.A. Business Journal in 2018,
  • one of the “Top 100 Under-50 Diverse Executive Leaders,” by Diversity MBA Magazine in 2015, and
  • one of “California’s 75 Top Labor and Employment Lawyers,” by the Daily Journal in 2014.
