JANUARY 25, 2018 – Based on factors such as depth of expertise, market presence, and favorable reviews from clients and fellow attorneys, Davis Wright Tremaine was named one of the leading firms in the country in trademark law and our attorneys were individually recognized as some of the top professionals in the field.
In its annual global ranking known as the “WTR 1000,” World Trademark Review included Davis Wright Tremaine as one of just 30 firms that are national trademark leaders in the U.S. WTR also elevated the firm from the Bronze to Silver band.
In New York, Davis Wright Tremaine was named one of the top nine firms in prosecution and strategy and one of the top dozen firms in enforcement and litigation. In individual listings, WTR recognized Alexandra Nicholson, chair of the firm’s media, entertainment, IP and branding practice group, with a Gold ranking, describing her as “a go-to for media clients and equipped with wide-ranging knowledge of the digital technology field.” Marcia Paul was also honored for her “distinguished courtroom acumen.”
New York partner Roxanne Elings was once again the only attorney in the WTR rankings to be recognized as a national leader in all three of the following practice areas: anti-counterfeiting, enforcement and litigation, and prosecution and strategy. WTR described her as “widely venerated.”
Davis Wright Tremaine was one of just two firms to receive WTR’s Gold ranking in Washington state. Cindy Caditz and Stuart Dunwoody were also individually assigned Gold rankings, an honor given to only seven lawyers in the state. Dunwoody was described as having “a stellar reputation…both locally and around the country.” WTR editors called Caditz “a savvy portfolio manager who also has a talent for maximising the commercial potential of her clients’ intellectual property.” Matthew Moersfelder was newly recognized as an important supporter of the practice.
In Oregon, DWT was recognized as one of a small group of top trademark practices. Sheila Fox Morrison was singled out as one of just four Gold-ranked practitioners in the state and described as “a perennial favourite among brand owners.”
In our D.C. office, David Silverman was recognized for his “business-sharp advice” in prosecution and strategy.
In California, Alonzo Wickers was newly listed for prosecution and strategy and described as “a premier branding attorney for those in the entertainment, media and technology sectors.”
