You're invited to Davis Wright Tremaine's 8th Annual In-House Pro Bono Summit, a half-day program exclusively designed for in-house lawyers and business professionals. Our exceptional faculty will explore the most pressing pro bono issues facing in-house teams today, including the GC playbook for earning and keeping pro bono support, engaging in pro bono work ethically and enjoyably, and the impact of pro bono partnerships between in-house teams and law firms.

AGENDA AT-A-GLANCE

THE GC PLAYBOOK: HOW TO EARN SUPPORT FOR PRO BONO, AND KEEP IT

In-house legal teams are under constant pressure to deliver more with fewer resources, and pro bono programs must operate within that reality. In this candid conversation, General Counsels will share how to earn meaningful support from leadership to assure pro bono remains a long term priority. The discussion will examine how senior legal leaders evaluate programmatic value, how to frame the business case for pro bono, and how to determine whether a program is effective. Attendees will walk away with practical tips for launching or strengthening in-house pro bono programs.

PRO BONO IN ACTION: 3 EASY, ETHICAL WAYS TO DO PRO BONO IN-HOUSE

Figuring out how to do pro bono in-house can feel overwhelming. This panel will break down how in-house teams are engaging in pro bono today, covering practical models that work across different team sizes, industries, and levels of experience. The focus will be on how to find the right partners, how to structure opportunities so they are accessible to busy teams, and how to ensure the work is both impactful and sustainable over time. Attendees will leave with practical ideas for how to engage their teams and turn interest into action.

JUSTICE THROUGH JOURNALISM: ONE POWERFUL PRO BONO PARTNERSHIP

Strong partnerships between in‑house legal teams and law firms can dramatically expand the reach and impact of pro bono work. ProJourn, an innovative collaboration between DWT and Microsoft, is one example, connecting independent journalists and newsrooms with volunteer lawyers. Panelists will discuss how this partnership model works in practice, the ethics of co‑counseling complex pro bono matters, and how in‑house lawyers can contribute through newsroom legal checkups, pre‑publication review, and other critical support. The conversation will highlight how in-house and law firm partnerships can unlock ambitious pro bono work and make meaningful, real‑world impact possible.
