JANUARY 31, 2012 — As part of its ongoing expansion, the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP has added three experienced real estate attorneys to DWT’s real estate practice group. The three new lawyers previously worked together at DLA Piper.

Mark Nelson and Tiffany Switzer are joining as partners and Nancy Clapp is of counsel. With the arrival of this group, the number of attorneys in Davis Wright’s L.A. office has reached 56, up from 46 at the end of 2010.

“We are very excited to have Mark, Tiffany, and Nancy on board. They are high-caliber lawyers and just great people,” said Mary Haas, partner-in-charge at Davis Wright’s L.A. office. “Their arrival serves to further DWT’s mission of being a full-service firm for our Southern California clients.”

“We are delighted to grow our national real estate practice by adding this highly experienced and highly respected group of lawyers in Los Angeles,” said Don Percival, co-chair of Davis Wright’s real estate and land use practice. “We will continue to seek terrific opportunities like this to add quality people serving quality clients in key markets. The group not only adds value to our real estate practice, but will collaborate well with our growing health care and hospitality practices.”

Nelson will lead the L.A. group. For over 30 years he has handled all types of real estate matters, with particular strength in acquisitions, sales, development, and finance matters. His work spans many different types of real estate, from hotels, multifamily, and offices to retail and mixed use. Some of his key clients include Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, Westport Capital Partners, Bank of America, U.S. Bank, and Union Bank.

Switzer represents various clients in financing real estate projects. Her 11 years of practice have given her a depth of experience working with lenders, developers, and investors. She works on a broad range of real estate transactions including real estate finance, acquisitions and development of real estate, and affordable housing transactions.

Clapp’s practice focuses on all varieties of commercial real property. She advises investors, commercial banks, and financial institutions on a wide range of transactions including financing, joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, and development.

“We are excited to join Davis Wright and its dynamic real estate practice,” said Nelson. “Davis Wright’s future is bright. We look forward to being part of the firm’s growth here in Los Angeles.”

Nelson received his J.D. from the University of California at Davis. Switzer received her J.D. from the University of Southern California and Clapp earned her J.D. at the University of California Los Angeles.
