AUGUST 16, 2013 – Mark Nelson, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, has been named to the 2013 list of California’s top real estate transactional lawyers by the Daily Journal, a leading legal newspaper.

Only 30 attorneys are selected for the list, which is based on the value and intricacy of transactional work and the impact of that work on the marketplace and the surrounding community.

Nelson was singled out by the editors of the Daily Journal for his work as lead counsel to Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers in its recent sale of Oregon’s largest hotel, the 782-room Hilton Portland and Executive Tower, for $100 million. Nelson assisted Cornerstone in vetting the property for sale, drafting all documents, and negotiating the purchase and sale agreement with the buyer, a sophisticated private equity fund.

The publication also took note of Nelson’s service as lead counsel to the seller of the Embassy Suites Hotel San Diego for $112 million, one of the highest-priced hotel property sales in California in 2012.

Nelson has three decades of experience in real estate law, including handling acquisitions, dispositions, and development matters. He has worked with many types of real estate, including hotel, resort, office, retail, industrial, multifamily, condominium, and mixed use projects. He was recently named to the 2014 list of Best Lawyers in America.

Davis Wright Tremaine’s real estate, land use & construction group consists of approximately 50 lawyers who handle complex development projects and real estate transactions throughout the United States.
